For the AppImage version you will probably need to download new releases yourself, although the app might inlcude an update notifier - not sure. Snap version will be updated automatically and silently when there is a new release. Where does that get stored? In the appimage? It's just one large file and it is being edited with data? or is that info going somewhere else and is it encrypted?ġ) Both the AppiImage and the Snap are packaged by the main application developer so as long as you trust the developer then both should be equally secure. I don't know what you mean when you say use the Menu Editor. I was able to launch the app, youtube-music-desktop-app and log in.
I used that to remove the snap and proceeded to download the appimage version and make the appimage editable. If you want to persevere with the snap version - see here for a few tips on getting info about an installed snap
